About the Position
The Director of Finance oversees all financial matters of Zaytuna College. The Director of Finance works closely with the President, the senior leadership team, and the Board of Trustees to develop and implement financial and certain administrative (including facilities, IT, and HR) strategies across the organization. The Director of Finance oversees all financial compliance matters with federal and state authorities, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), private grant-making organizations, and other institutions. The Director of Finance must be able to adapt in an evolving, deadline-driven environment, while managing staff.

The Director of Finance serves on the senior leadership team, along with the heads of development, marketing, faculty, students and operations. This is a hands-on position requiring working concurrently on both short-term and long-term implementation of strategies for the college, with the goal of making the college financially sustainable and growing its annual operating budget. In addition, during the next five years, the Director will oversee the growth and management of the capital and endowment funds. The Director of Finance reports to the Head of Operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Finance
  • Oversees cash flow planning and ensures availability of funds as needed
  • Oversees cash, investment, and asset management
  • Develops and utilizes predictive models and activity-based financial analysis to provide insight into Zaytuna Colleges’ operations and plans
  • Planning and Policy
  • Coordinates the development and monitoring of budgets
  • Develops financial business plans and forecasts
  • Participates in strategy and policy development with the senior leadership team
  • Engages the financial committee of the Board of Trustees to develop short, and long-term financial plans and projections
  • Represents Zaytuna College to select donors, foundation executives, auditors, WASC officials, etc
  • Keeps up-to-date on college audit best practices and state and federal laws governing nonprofit operations
  • Accounting
  • Oversees the accounting department to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and functions; supervises staff of two-five
  • Ensures maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures and metrics
  • Ensures timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of internal and external reporting
  • Prepares and communicates monthly and annual financial statements
  • Ensures the college meets financial audit requirements, properly files tax returns, meets labor laws, and meets the finance-related accreditation requirements of WASC
  • Ensures legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions
  • Supervisory Responsibility
  • The Director of Finance manages and hires employees in the accounting offices.

Experience and Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 5 years’ experience, preferably in a college or nonprofit setting
  • Significant experience in, or knowledge of, nonprofit accounting
  • Experience working with information technology staff to manage finance and accounting software, as well as office productivity packages
  • A CPA and/or MBA would be a plus
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident

Webmaster Print Favicon

Zaytuna College is seeking a Webmaster to direct, manage, and enhance its online presence and be responsible for the Zaytuna.edu website and all other online properties of the organization. The role requires a multi-talented and experienced webmaster with good design and project management skills.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the daily operation of the Zaytuna.edu website, via the FTP server and the CMS (currently Expression Engine, a LAMP based CMS).
  • Work with management and staff members to make daily updates to site content.
  • Oversee site architecture and infrastructure provided by external service-providers, including hosting, domain and server management, and lead all web development and site enhancement projects.
  • Oversee all web and print design to maintain a consistent “look and feel” and high-quality branding. Design all web graphics and imagery and HTML emails for marketing campaigns compatible with the organization’s email management systems (currently HubSpot). Also design basic print promotional materials such as flyers and posters.
  • Work with AV staff to post audio and video resources on the web.
  • Drive creative vision for website enhancement and effectiveness.

Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 3 years previous experience as a webmaster, especially in overseeing accessible, cross-platform web sites and web applications.
  • Thorough knowledge of HTML & CSS. Working knowledge of PHP, Javascript, AJAX, and other common tools and techniques a plus.
  • Experience with online database management, particularly MySQL.
  • Experience utilizing analytic technologies at an advanced level.
  • Extensive experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, and Dreamweaver). Experience on the Mac OS X platform a plus.
  • Experience with and knowledge of online multimedia technologies and services, including audio-video delivery, podcasting, and streaming video.
  • Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) and Email Management Systems. Familiarity with Expression Engine and Hubspot a plus.
  • Experience with E-Commerce systems for processing transactions (shopping cart, donations, registrations, etc.).
  • Ability to be creative, proactive, dependable, collaborative and resourceful.
  • U.S. citizen or legal authorization to work in U.S.
